FRAUD WARNING

Established brands are often targeted by fraudsters to add the appearance of legitimacy to their crimes. This can take many forms but often fraudsters will impersonate representatives of the company. They will frequently use falsified or copied material (documentation, email addresses, websites etc.) that uses the branding and intellectual property of the company as a tool for such impersonation. There has been an increase in unscrupulous individuals seeking to take advantage of the present situation during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We strongly advise you to exercise extreme caution in responding to unsolicited investment proposals or requests for your personal information. TU Financial Management Services Limited (TUFMS) is authorised and regulated

UOK? training Peer Educators to provide mental health support to new university students

The Trustees of The TUUT Charitable Trust approved a £50,000 donation for The Mental Health Foundation for their UOK? Project. The project trains Peer Educators (aged 19-22) to provide preventative mental health support to students, going from college or sixth form to university through informative mental health and wellbeing workshops. Student mental health and anxiety is a significant problem across the UK. Increased workload, living independently away from existing support networks, managing their own money, making new friends, figuring out who they are, lots of change at one time which can be overwhelming. For information about the Mental Health Foundation go to www.mentalhealth.org.uk.

Education and Employers

Children’s aspirations shaped by their gender and who they know

The charity Education and Employers helps state school teachers develop approaches that raise student aspirations and attainment. Its Primary Futures programme has been developed in partnership with the National Association of Head Teachers who supported this application for funding. Research has shown that the patterns of jobs chosen by seven-year-olds mirror those selected by 17-year olds and that gender stereotyping starts at a young age. Primary Futures uses volunteer role models who children can identify with to share their work life with the students in real time and virtually. The TUUT Charitable Trust £25,000 Donation. For more information about the work of Education & Employers go to www.educationandemployers.org.

Moving forward with a new blended way of caring Hospice-Home-Virtual

A home visit from Hospice staff Covid 19 meant the suspension of routine respite visits (though emergency admissions, symptom control/medical procedures and end-of-life care continued). Many families found it incredibly difficult to cope as their normal care packages fell away. For the first time it became necessary to take care out into the community. Families appreciated this move, which now necessitates a new co-ordinator to ensure this outreach work is safe, blends with in-hospice provision and runs smoothly for staff and families. The TUUT Charitable Trust £10,000 Donation has helped the Hospice reach their £75,000 target.

Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank face restrictions on healthcare and the threat of growing illegal settlements. Area C which covers 60% of the West Bank is under full Israeli control. Locals are unable to establish any permanent health facilities in these areas, and the high cost of transport means that walking is often the only option. MAP provides a mobile health clinic for these communities. The TUUT Charitable Trust recently received a request for funding from MAP which was supported by the Clerkenwell & St Pancras Branch of Unite.  Our donation of £10,000 will cover the
