The simple, practical gift of food can change lives!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the York  Foodbank in July with a donation of £1,000. This donation was one of five foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Yorkshire Region of the GMB. Now more than ever at this time of national uncertainty, this support will help to prevent people from going hungry in their own homes, help stop parents from skipping meals to feed their children or people having to decide between eating and paying the rent.

The first thing anyone thinks to donate to a foodbank is food but toiletries and hygiene products are also extremely important!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the Leeds Knottingley Foodbank in July with a donation of £1,000. This donation was one of five foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Yorkshire Region of the GMB. Alongside the standard food parcel, foodbanks try to provide some essential non-food items for adults and children in crisis. Cash donations give much needed flexibility enabling them to purchase items not regularly donated such as toiletries & laundry powder or fill in shortages of regular items e.g. UHT milk. Knottingley saw a significant increase in their petrol expense as their delivery service increased considerably during lockdown.

We can at least relieve people of one problem at this particularly difficult time!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of Yiewsley & West Drayton Foodbank in June with a donation of £1,000. “The foodbank has seen an enormous rise in requests for help over the lockdown period. Deliveries to the isolated have increased!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of Chesterfield Foodbank in July with a donation of £1,000. Since the end of April Chesterfield foodbank has increased its deliveries, helping it to reach areas where people are very much isolated. This has worked well, serving those in financial difficulty who were also self isolating. The Chesterfield foodbank looks forward to inviting its recent lockdown clients back into their centres for tea and biscuits and a supportive chat. The potential impact of a food donation cannot be underestimated.

For many people being referred to a foodbank after being hit by something unavoidable like illness or redundancy, emergency food is just the first step up. Foodbanks help people access other services and support which can help them get their lives back on track. Goods in – Food Parcels out!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the North Lakes Foodbank during May with a donation of £1,000. This donation was one of five foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Northern Region of the GMB. In these currently very challenging times many people are struggling with employment issues, self-isolation and all the attendant problems. With rising demand increasing noticeably during May, our donation has been used to purchase food to maintain stock levels and “fill in the gaps” as necessary.

Emergency steps taken to provide a service during Covid19 lockdown!

The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of Rochdale Foodbank in May with a donation of £1,500. This donation was one of four foodbanks signposted to us for help by the North West & Irish Region of the GMB. Rochdale Foodbank lost many of its regular volunteers as they had to shield themselves or other family members, fortunately working with Rochdale Council and others who came forward having furloughed an emergency service has been maintained.

Donation could not have come at a better time!

The TUUT Charitable Trust was pleased to support the work of Smethwick CAN Foodbank in May with a donation of £1,250. In her letter of thanks Foodbank Manager Amy Allan told us that the donation could not have come at a better time as they were experiencing a 250% in demand. In 2019/20 they provided provisions for 5918 clients, in the first three weeks of April 2020 they had already provided for 1318! This donation was one of four foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Birmingham & West Midlands Region of the GMB.
