Place 2 Be flyer

No young person should face a mental health problem alone!

Place2Be works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, believing that no young person should have to face a mental health problem alone. The TUUT Charitable Trust are supporting their work with a donation of £20,000 which will be used to support children in the London borough of Tower Hamlets. Their School Project Managers help to deliver one-to-one counselling, Place2Talk, Group therapy, Place2Think and parent partnership consultations. This application for funding was supported by the NAHT.

Arnold Foodbank

There is always a new challenge

(Sorting the stock by date order ensures no waste) January 2021’s challenge was families affected by schools being closed without food voucher schemes being in place. In February the challenge is Homelessness again, mainly single people with relationship breakups, job losses or just not coping, but there are also families. The foodbank team supports everyone to get through these difficult times. The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the Arnold Foodbank in February with a donation of £833. This donation was made to one of six foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Midlands & East Coast Region of the GMB.

Volunteers – the life blood of Foodbanks!

(Volunteers at Sherwood Forest Foodbank) The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the Sherwood Forest Foodbank in February with a donation of £833. This donation was one of six foodbanks signposted to us for help by the Midland & East Coast Region of the GMB. Now more than ever the work of volunteers is so important, their work helps to prevent people from going hungry in their own homes, helps stop parents from skipping meals to feed their children or people having to decide between eating and paying the rent.

Dogs for Good TUFM

Dogs for Good provide assistance dog partnerships for adults & children with a physical disability.

(Caroline with her assistance dog Sailor) The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of Dogs for Good with a £5,000 donation.  The donation was recommended to us by USDAW Eastern Region.  Caroline suffered a spinal stroke several years ago. Here she describes how her assistance dog is improving her life:  “Sailor my assistance dog has brought back to me bits of my life that I never thought I’d get back. He spurs me on to do more and more. I can go where I want, when I want, and my confidence is growing every day. We have an incredible bond. Sailor is the missing piece of my life jigsaw. He gives me help and happiness.

“Radio Storytime” The innovative Book Bus team provides literacy support for children in Kenya throughout the Covid19 crisis

The Covid 19 crisis has had negative effects on the education sector throughout the world. Educators have had to look at different ways to effectively impart literacy skills to their learner.   Those with resources have turned to e-learning which is only available to a certain ‘class’ of learner those with access to smart phones, tablets or computers.  For the majority Radio and Television are much more accessible. Radio transcends Television as it reaches the remotest areas, it can be used to offer consistent programs with defined goals and objectives and can be used for all grades and age groups.  As Covid 19 began to take hold in Kenya, the Book Bus Foundation set up free bi-weekly storytime sessions on Radio Icengelo, Kitwe. Supporting the work of the Swindon Food Collective

Home from Hospital Bags; Emergency Assistance Bags; Bobby Van Bags The TUUT Charitable Trust were pleased to support the work of the Swindon Food Collective in October with a donation of £5,000. This donation was recommended to us by the Nationwide Group Staff Union in order to help improve their infrastructure development ensuring continuation of their operation and services. Swindon Food Collective is the sole food bank provider in the Swindon and district area, with a population of around 250,000. Along with 3 days of supplies to those referred to the foodbank the charity is involved in a number of initiatives such as “Home from Hospital Bags”, providing 48 hours
