Bolton is one of the areas in the North West receiving the highest number of asylum seekers with numbers comparable to the large cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
The Destitution Project seeks to provide a safe environment in Bolton where asylum seekers and refugees can find friendship, food and practical help.
Currently 40 volunteers and 3 part-time paid staff serve the needs of over 135 asylum seekers and refugees each week.
The project was most grateful for our donation of £7,000 which arrived in time to support the Projects work at the height of the Corona Virus Crisis.
This application for funding was supported by the Bolton branch of UNISON.
