The national museum of democracy, telling the story of its development in Britain: past, present, and future.
Providing opportunities for people of all ages to learn about, be inspired by and get involved in ideas worth fighting for; ideas such as equality, social justice, co-operation, and a fair world for all.
The museum supported by USDAW applied for the funding of a Programme Officer, £56,900 over a two year period to support a new and innovative programme led approach:-
Disrupt? Peterloo & Protest in 2019 – to explore how people have always organised and agitated for reform through collective action with a focus on young people and young workers.
Migration & Identity in 2020 (encouraging migrant and refugee communities into the museum to explore their experience of life and ork in post-Brexit Britain).
Each of the programme themes will have close connection to union history, heritage and campaigns, as well as providing opportunities to engage new and younger members with union activity.
