Community, Advice, Support, Education (CASE)

A small community based charity in Brighton that aims to alleviate poverty through mutual aid and solidarity.

It provides support for those on benefits and low incomes in one of the most deprived areas of Brighton.

Run entirely by volunteers most of which are drawn from the local neighbourhood and know from their own personal experience the problems of living on little or no money.

The centre is open five days a week and offers a space for people to socialise, have a chat and share their problems. It provides free clothes, books and toys donated by the local community, free food through subscriptions to the local FareShare Scheme and the Harvester UK Scheme, plus other necessities through a link with the In Kind Direct Scheme.

They offer free welfare rights advice, advocacy and support to claimants of all welfare benefits for people in Brighton & Hove.

Lynne Gash-Quantrell the PCS Regional equality officer for the South East and Branch Organiser for PCS DWP East Sussex supported the CASE application for funding and is pictured above handing over our cheque for £3,400 to Felton Shortall at CASE.

Our funding will provide for a year’s subscription to Fare Share and the administration costs attached to providing welfare advice, advocacy and support work.
