Empowering young Ethiopians

Together We Learn exists to help disadvantaged young people gain equal access to quality education in Ethiopia. They believe in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty by enabling children to learn, grow and access opportunities. The TUUT Charitable Trust were asked to support an expansion in their Early Years Literacy programme, training primary school teachers in the use of phonetics to teach English. English is the second or even third language for many children but it is the language of instruction for secondary schools. The TUUT Charitable Trust £4,000 Donation. Prison Me NO WAY!

Pupils spending time in the mobile prison cell The No Way Trust was set up in 1993 by three prison officers worried about the number of young people being sent to prison. Staffed by a mixture of retired Prison staff, and voluntary serving Prison Officers supported by a Youth Advisory Group and ex-prisoners all working together for a common goal – to stop young people from getting involved in crime. The TUUT Charitable Trust £20,000 Donation. The charity offers Crime and Safety Awareness Days, and Choice Workshops involving Ex-Offenders and Youth Justice Teams to schools around the country.
