Timely Donations to fund new premises

Delegates at the 2014 GMB Conference in Nottingham were invited to support a local Foodbank by bringing in food or giving a cash donation during Conference week. This initiative was organised by the TUUT Charitable Trust and TU Fund Managers and supported by the local GMB-Midland & East Coast Region. At the end of Conference Nigel Webster of the Bestwood & Bulwell Foodbank   was extremely surprised to collect a £4,000 cheque from the TUUT Charitable Trust, plus over £200 cash raised by delegates and the bags of donated food waiting for him. TU Supports Medical Education and Aid in Kenya (MEAK)

Following the extremely successful MEAK golf days of recent years, the charity ran another day at Croham Hurst Golf Club on Thursday 19th June 2014. During the event, Marion Colverd, General Manager at TU Fund Managers (TUFM), presented Dee Belliere of MEAK, with a cheque for £12,000 which will be used in Kenya to support paediatric heart missions operating on children with heart disease, orthopaedic missions operating on patients with ‘long bone’ fractures and eye camps operating on people with cataracts. TUFM is wholly owned by the TUUT Charitable Trust and has over the years supported a vast range of worthy causes.

Croydon Foodbank – Restoring dignity and reviving hope

The Croydon Foodbank team was delighted to have been chosen to receive a £4,000 donation from the TUUT Charitable Trust in January 2015. Carmen Elvy Administrator) and Kingsley Ofon (Project Manager) welcomed Marion Colverd (General Manager) of TU Fund Managers when she dropped in to present the cheque and find out a little more about the workings of the foodbank. They explained that the local communities particularly churches, schools and supermarkets were very active in collecting long-life foodstuffs for the foodparcels, cash donations however were thinner on the ground.
